Established in 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the New Mexico Trauma Recovery Center for Community Violence is a community-based nonprofit serving individuals and families impacted by violence, incarceration, adjudication, and substance use. Our trauma-informed model includes mentoring, relapse prevention, and holistic supports aimed at reducing recidivism, strengthening families, and improving community safety.
Our Violence Prevention and Intervention Programs serve youth, young adults, and individuals impacted by community violence and/or involvement with the justice system. Services are delivered through an active community presence that includes street outreach, case management, and peer support. By meeting clients where they are and offering informed choices, we empower individuals to identify and pursue the next steps toward stability and positive life outcomes
We strive to support community members who have recently experienced trauma, grief, and significant barriers during times of crisis. Our goals include helping individuals and families access employment and housing, connect to critical resources, receive grief support and advocacy, navigate funeral planning, and develop life skills through mentoring and supportive services.
The program is led by a multidisciplinary team that includes formerly incarcerated parents, individuals in recovery, highly experienced advocates, and community members directly impacted by gun violence. These lived-experience leaders serve as mentors and supervisors, ensuring services are authentic, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.
The primary goal of the New Mexico Trauma Recovery Center for Community Violence is to stabilize individuals and families while ultimately reducing recidivism and strengthening community safety across the city of Albuquerque and state of New Mexico
